Every summer the Intonazione, Festival di musica europea (Intonation, European Music Festival) is held in one of the most suggestive locations on Elba Island, the Eremo di Santa Caterina. Sant’Anna del Volterraio is its sponsor. This locale is magical. It is surrounded by pungent Mediterranean flora. It also has the flavor of an antique sacredness. You will also find the extraordinary Orto Botanico that has hundreds of rare species many of which are in danger of becoming extinct. There are classical music concerts presented by artists coming from all over the world. These take place from the end of June to the beginning of July, and are sometimes accompanied by candlelight dinners.
