Rio Marina – Elba Island

From 25th to 31st July 2026, Elba Island will host one of the most prestigious sailing events of the season: the FJ (Flying Junior) World Championship, organised by the Centro Velico Elbano in Rio Marina to celebrate its 70th anniversary.

For an entire week, the waters of Elba will become the stage for thrilling races featuring more than 70 crews from all over the world, including teams from Argentina, Belgium, Japan, Germany, Mexico, the Netherlands and the United States, alongside Italian sailors and local Elban crews.

The Flying Junior class has always been deeply connected to the sailing tradition of Rio Marina and the Centro Velico Elbano, where generations of young sailors began their competitive sailing careers.

Following the opening ceremony on 25th July, the programme will continue with boat inspections, the practice race on 26th July, and the official championship races from 27th to 31st July, which will determine the world title winners. The final day will conclude with the prize-giving ceremony and the official closing event.
